OUR HISTORY

In July 2001, a group of like-minded communities formed the Australian Learning Communities Network (ALCN Inc.)

ALCN Inc was incorporated in NSW and granted Australian Registered Business Number status in 2005.

The ALCN has held a number of conferences, forums and workshops about learning cities and learning communities. For example:

• Learning City from Concept to Reality, Albury Wodonga, 27-29 October 2000
• The Australian Learning Communities Network National Conference, Adelaide, 26-28 October. 2008. Keynote: Peter Kearns
• Learning for the New Economy: Australian Learning Communities Conference, 22-23 September, 2012.

More recently ALCN has collaborated with ALA and other partners to hold forums

• Lifelong Learning in Australia: putting practice into policy and policy into practice. Workshop held in Melton, Victoria in November 2019.
• The Smart City Forum https://ala.asn.au/learning-communities/.
